Abstract: Breast cancer is known as a hormoneresponsive cancer. Apart from estrogen, androgen also plays a critical role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. The binding of androgen to androgen receptor(AR)leads to the activation of AR, which interacts with molecules in the nuclear, resulting in up-regulation or down-regulation of target proteins. AR is associated with the expression of ERs, aromatase, human epidermal growth factor receptor-2(HER-2), progesterone receptor(PR) and Ecadherin. The resistant mechanisms of aromatase inhibitions(AIs) and selective estrogen receptor modulators(SERMs) Tamoxifen are also relevant with AR. Further investigation of AR signaling makes it possible to be an effective therapeutic target for breast cancer.
