Clinical observation of paclitaxel chemotherapy by low-dose dexamethasone premedication

Abstract: Objective To observe the safety and adverse reactions of the low-dose dexamethasone premedication with paclitaxel chemotherapy, explore a new paclitaxel premedication procedure. Methods Paclitaxel(135-175mg/m2) combined with platinum drugs was used in 151 patients, 21 days was a cycle. Two kinds of the premedication procedure be used before injection of paclitaxel, one in standard premedication procedure, the other in low-dose dexamethasone premedication procedure, observe the drug safety and adverse reactions. Results Paclitaxel chemotherapy in 75 cases of low-dose dexamethasone premedication and 76 cases of standards with acute allergy rates were 8.0% and 9.2%; peripheral neuritis rate were 38.7% and 40.8%, muscle and joint pain rate were 52.0%, 53.9%. There was no statistically significant between the two groups. Conclusion There was no difference in acute allergic reaction of paclitaxel chemotherapy before the application of Low-dose dexamethasone premedication compared with standards.
