Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of Vav3 and MMP-2 and its association with clinicopathological features in human gastric cancer. Methods The expression of Vav3 and MMP-2 in gastric cancer was detected by immunohistochemistry， and the relationship with clinicopathological features was analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of Vav3 and MMP-2 in gastric cancer were 57.1％（52／91） and 68.1％（62／91）， which were significantly higher than those in pericarcinoma tissues（30.5％，25／82； 25.6％，21／82）. Expression of Vav3 was closely correlated with TNM stage， lymphatic metastasis and vascular infiltration（P＜0.05）； Expression of MMP-2 was closely correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis（P＜0.05）. The positive correlation was found between Vav3 and MMP-2 in gastric cancer（r=0.313， P=0.003）. Conclusion Vav3 and MMP-2 were high expressed in gastric cancer and the correlation between them was positive correlation. The expression of Vav3 protein may be involved in tumor invasion and metastasis event.
