Abstract: Gamma delta(γδ) T cells are minor subset of T lymphocytes(2%-5% of peripheral blood T lymphocytes) that express Vγ9Vδ2 T cell receptors, mainly distributed in the mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue, are nonrestricted cells of major histocompatibility complex(MHC), can kill various tumor cells. Many data demonstrate that γδ T cells are involved in the first line of immune defense system. In the future, adoptive γδ T cellsbased cell immunotherapy will become a new strategy for cancer immunotherapy. In this review, we provide an overview of its antitumor mechanism and clinical application.
