Abstract:

Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of mesothelin in breast cancer，and investigate the relationship between the expression and clinical pathological characteristics. Methods The expression of mesothelin in 56 breast cancer samples and paired adjacent normal breast tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry. ResultsThe positive expression of mesothelin in 56 breast cancer tissues and adjacent normal breast tissues was 42.9％ （24／56） and 10.7％（6／56） with statistical significance（P＜0.05）. The expression of mesothelin was markedly correlated to the differentiation degree of breast carcinoma， tumor size and expression of ER（P＜0.05），but had no relationship with the age， lymphatic metastasis and expression of HER-2 （P＞0.05）. Conclusion The detection of expression of mesothelin is helpful in the diagnosis of breast cancer， and it might be also regard as an important parameter for determining tumor malignant degree and prediction.
